North West Vietnam is always one of the most exciting and spectacular destination in Vietnam, as of it remains unspoiled and is a captivating blend of dramatic landscapes and colorful hill tribes. This adventure is designed for the lovers of mountain stunning view, untouched culture discovery, multi-color lifestyle and costumes, heart-breaking routes, beautiful rice farm terraces, great trekking trails, and photo hunting.

The tour level is at real adventure. Be ready for 3-5 hours trekking in the hilly villages. There are days of 7 hours on driving or the breathtaking views occasionally passing by your vehicle window

ITINERARY OF THE NORTH VIETNAM 7 DAYS

Be welcomed by your tour guide at 8:00 AM in your hotel. Take a drive around threes hour and a half heading to the middle highland of the North. Have some stops en route for stretching the legs, photos of spectacular views over the  mountains. Upon arrival to Lac Village in Mai Chau community, be introduced to a  White Thai family where we stay overnight in their stilt house.

Have lunch cooked by the family, get refreshed and take a two hour and a half trek to three White Thai villages of La Poon, La Thia and Poom Coong. This trekking is mainly to get across terraced rice farms, the natural beauty of the valley, to visit local houses with their interior look, daily living understanding and their fabric weaving style.  In the late afternoon, return to Lac Village for refreshment and overnight at our host.

There is an option that we can enjoy the performance of the minority dances and drink Ruou Can at night.

Have breakfast the host, make a farewell and drive to Son La The awaiting with fruit orchards, tea plantations and towering mountains. Stop en route to visit some of villages of various tribes including the H’mong, Thai, Muong and Dzao. Visits orchard, tea plantation in Moc Chau plateau to understand why Vietnam can be the 6th biggest tea provider of the world.

In the afternoon, visit the Prison Museum in Son La, which presents one perspective on the former French colonial rule. Overnight in Son La.

Make further drive to get more impressive the mountain scenery through North Vietnam’s stunning countryside. Utmost is picturesque scenery at Pha Din Pass, a well-known historical site at war and a charming and breathtaking pass.

On arrival at Dien Bien Phu, the last base of the French colonial power in Indochina, visit Dien Bien Phu Museum and A1 hill, Dien Bien Phu Cemetery. Visit General De Castries’s Bunker, Old Muong Thanh Bridge and Nam Rom river. The tour will help to bring you an understanding of one more famous battlefield of the world.

Overnight in Dien Bien Phu.

Hitting the road again around 6 to 7 hours but the scenery of the Lai Chau valley is both breathtaking and dramatic. Enjoy the feeling on drive at steep roads, over yawning valleys, winding and fording turbulent rivers, canonical rice-terraced mountain sides.

Among the drive, visit some of the most beautiful and friendly hill tribe people in North Vietnam, such as the H’Mong, Black Thai, Black Dzao and Pazi.

Overnight in Tam Duong.

Take a short walk around this peaceful town and its market before taking further drive to Tram Ton pass, the highest mountain pass in Viet Nam to enjoy truly magnificent views of the majestic mountains, passes and valleys. Stop en route to visit Heaven’s Gate and the Silver Waterfall.

Sapa is Northwest Vietnam’s premier travel destination built in 1922 as a French colonial hill station, now a busy market town for the regional minority groups. The drive will take you to Sapa which is of new feelings made by colonial buildings, the central church, and the multi color dresses of many hill tribes living around.

Check in a comfortable hotel and be free to explore this picturesque Sapa town.

Multi color hill tribes among the rice terraces thru 7 days at Northwest Vietnam

Have breakfast, then follow a lovely trek along buffalo paths and trails and through several hill tribe villages Lao Chai & Ta Van, home to Black H’mong, and Dzay people. Enjoy the spectacular scenery with villages in the middle of the hills, the terrace rice fields and the Muong Hoa valleys with agricultural plantations. The trekking go along two different tribes with different costume and daily life styles, but the same beauty of smiles.

Walk to a main road to take the jeep back to Sapa for overnight in the hotel.

Take the morning free at leisure for your own Sapa discovery as visiting the town highlights like the central Church, the wet market, etc.

After lunch, leave Sapa for beautiful drive back to Hanoi by the newly built highway. Enjoy many stops en route to savor the beautiful countryside as the landscape changes from arching mountains to the flat plains of the Red River Delta.

Arrive in Hanoi in the late afternoon.
